| Well, I just had the most amazing weekend ever last weekend ... I'll explain more details and put up pictures later ...
So it is official. I am staying in Rochester for the summer. My housing contract is signed and I was just hired into a full time job yesterday!! Praise be to God ... I'm not kidding. Let me explain ...
I really felt like God wanted me to stay here for the summer. That meant I had to not do somethings I was planning on doing at home (like get to live with mom and dad and see Tyler and Jason and Karina, etc ...) and a few other things. So I had to say no to that, and yes to staying in Rochester. The thing about staying here in my apartment is that it costs a lot of money ... so I figured I'd just take out a loan to pay for housing, but then I'd need to find a job to pay it off asap. So really I'd be working here in Rochester, just so I could live in Rochester ... I wouldn't really be able to save much money that way, which is something I need to do ... well then God opened up a door!!! With the help of a little bit of networking (it's good to know the right people ... ) I got an interview with RIT Housing Operations to see about working for Housing full time on campus this summer. It just so happened that the person interviewing me is someone I already knew from my current job and have a good rapport with. So she interviewed me and really it was her telling me what the job was about and what I'd be doing. So then she said "Well, I guess the last thing is the hours. I don't know if it'll fit with your schedule or not, but it's Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Would that be ok?" And of course I'm like uh, YEAH! Perfect!! haha, exactly what I was looking for! haha. So she said "oh that's great, let's get some paperwork for you to fill out so you can start working during finals week! Wow Christina you just made this so much easier for me, I was just thinking about how I was going to have to start advertising for an employee for the summer, and I really didn't have the time to do all kinds of interviews, so you just made this process a whole lot easier!" And I was like, "well .... thanks!" haha, what do you say to that? She just made it a lot easier for me too!! haha, so NOW I have this full time job for the summer!!! HOW EXCITING! But something even more exciting ... I asked her if since I was working for Housing Operations, if it would effect MY housing for the summer in any way. She said "well, where do you live?" and I said "University Commons". She said "oh, ok ... well the only way it'd really effect your housing is that you get to live there for free." WHAT?! FOR FREE?! Um, that's 1200 flipping dollars for the WHOLE summer ... and I don't pay a DIME because I'm working for Housing ... GEEZE! If God didn't set that up for me, I don't know what the heck is going on ... honestly, I don't know why God blesses me SO MUCH ... but clearly He really DID want me here for the summer ... those doors flew right open! I'm ridiculously excited ... and I want God to have ALL the glory for me getting to live in my apt for free this summer ... and having a full time job ... and being able to pay for food and laundry stuff and toilet paper ... and for everything. Honestly. He definitely gives, and He can definitely take away. He just proved it.
So, I just wanted to share that with everyone ... I wish I could be home, I really would love to be, but I feel such an awesome peace about staying in Rochester this summer. It's weird. I'm not going home. That means I probably won't be going home again ... like, Rochester is becoming my new home ... bah, weird! Seriously ... it's kind of sad but it's kind of really exciting too. I'm flippin almost 23 years old, I should be starting some kind of new something by now, right?? hehe I will be going home for about 5 days in June though. 14th - 18th I'll be coming home. I'm really excited to!! I get to see Katie, since she'll be up in Ohio then, and I'll be able to get some summer clothes (since I have none here ...) and my bike so I can ride my bike to work instead of drive. I'm really excited about going home. I can't wait to see everyone!
This summer's gonna be awesome ... I'm really looking forward to it.
Anyway, enough about me ... how are YOU doing?! |
